COMET STRIKE

Privacy Policy

Comet Strike for iPhone and the web. Effective for version 1.1 and later.

In short: Comet Strike itself collects no personal data and has no accounts. Your game progress is saved only on your device. To help us improve the game it sends anonymous usage data, such as which screens are opened and how runs end, that is not linked to you; you can turn this off at any time in Settings. The iPhone app also shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google collects some device and usage data to serve and measure them, as described below. You can say no to tracking and still play.

Who we are

Comet Strike is made by Nalo Seed LLC. You can reach us at paul@naloseed.com.

What we collect

No personal data. The app does not ask for your name, email, location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. Our own usage data, below, does not use the advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The advertising data in the next section is collected by Google, not by us.

While Settings > Share anonymous usage data is on (it is on by default), the app sends us anonymous usage data:

This data is not linked to your identity, your Apple ID or any other account. It does not include your name, contact details, IP address or advertising identifier, and we do not use it for advertising, sell it or share it with data brokers. It is stored in our own database, hosted by Supabase, and used only to understand how the game is played and where it can be improved. Like any web service, the hosting provider keeps short-lived request logs that can include an IP address; we do not store IP addresses with the usage data or use them to identify anyone.

Turning it off: switch off Share anonymous usage data in Settings. The app then stops sending, deletes anything it had not yet sent, and forgets its random ID. Deleting the app has the same effect.

Advertising (iPhone app)

The iPhone app uses Google AdMob to show ads. Ads never appear during a run. You can choose to watch a rewarded ad to continue a run or double your shards, and a short ad may play between runs, at most once every three minutes.

To serve, limit and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects:

Your choices. iOS asks whether Comet Strike may track you. If you say no, Google shows ads that are not personalised and does not receive the IDFA. You can change this any time in iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), Google's consent form asks for your choice first, and you can change it later from Settings > Ad privacy choices in the game. Google's use of this data is covered by How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

What stays on your device

To remember your game, Comet Strike saves the following in your device's own app storage:

This data never leaves your device. We cannot see it. Deleting the app deletes it, apart from any device backup you have set up yourself, such as iCloud Backup. In the web version it is kept in your browser's local storage, and clearing your site data removes it.

Sharing a score

If you choose to share a run, the app opens your device's share sheet with a short text summary. You pick where it goes. We do not receive a copy.

Third parties

The only third-party code in the iPhone app that collects data is Google AdMob, described above. The anonymous usage data above goes to our own database, hosted by Supabase, which processes it on our behalf. Apple may give us aggregated, anonymous crash and usage statistics only if you have opted in to share them with app developers in your iPhone settings. The web version shows no ads and is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.

Children

Comet Strike is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience (rated PG or lower). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The anonymous usage data described above is the same for every player and can be turned off in Settings. If you believe a child's data was collected through ads, contact us and we will help you reach Google.

Changes

If we change what is collected, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version is released.
